CANADA

The Canadian Olympic Committee will give $20,000 (RM 64,321.73) to gold-medal winners, $15,000 (RM 48,250.33) to silver medallists and $10,000 (RM 32,173.18) to Canadian athletes who earn Olympic bronze.

U.S.A

The United States pays US 25,000.00 (RM 81,327.75) for gold, US 15,000.00 (RM 48,801.88) and US 10,000.00 (RM 32,534.98) for bronze.

GOOD OL’ MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) — Malaysia, which has never won an Olympic gold medal, is offering a bonus of one million ringgit (US 307,000 dollars) to any athlete who can bring home the top prize from this year’s Beijing Games.

Najib said silver medallists would win RM 300,000 (US 92,208.39), and RM 100,000 (US 30,736.13) for bronze. Members of gold medal-winning teams would receive at least RM 150,000 (US 46,104.196).

You think its too much?

No lah. The DPM is a reasonable person. This is the way to ease our athletes burden in view of the increase price of petrol, electric tariff and essential food items in Malaysia. Athletes needs to pay for stuffs too.

I am confident that the Government has already made the necessary studies and comparison with other developed countries like Canada and the US. In fact, I am sure the Government thought this two countries dont even have enough money to match our incentives and our standards. What they offered to their WORLD CLASS ATHLETES are mere peanuts compared to us.

Its okay though, in the event our athletes do not perform in Olympics, we have already won a gold medal, and possibly a world record.

In offering rewards, of course!

……….. and we are saying that we couldn’t afford a lot of things. There is still a possibility that we may get gold, especially in badminton. Taxpayers, get ready to pay……!!!

Gua rasa kerajaan la ni tak hayati sejarah negara especially sejarah sukan negara, ingat tak beberapa puluh tahun yg lepas negara membawa balik Piala Thomas, pemain2 diberikan ganjaran, lepas tu habis entah ke mana, DPM kena ingat duit yg di”offer”kan kepada athlit tu adalah duit pembayar cukai & bukannya duit DPM dan keluarga mereka….kena ingat tu…
