BUKIT MERAH WATERPARK
July 6th, 2008 | by akula |The above pic is for show off and got nothing to do with this post. It was captured in my parents garden which is full of orchids, with names I cant even remember.
Now for my Bukit Merah trip pics.

I will spare the details about the developement of this resort. You can read it at their website. The pic above is the entrance to the theme park.
Choices, choices.
I love the signboard showing the way to where the places are located. Actually you only have two choices, which are either to go left or right. The small fountain is a nice touch. The nearby Cafe Le Lac offers a variety of local Perak dishes and being a Perakian myself, I would say the taste is quite authentic. The prices are a bit steepm though, but nowadays, what doesnt? For RM 5.00 ask for the Roti Bakar (toast) and you will get a free mug of teh/nescafe tarik. (No prize guessing which beverage I ordered :)).
This is the main jetty to Orang Utan island. I guess there must be some other jetties around but search as I could, I couldnt find any other than this one. No human being under 90 cm are allowed to go to the island. Seriously.
The entrance to my main purpose going to Bukit Merah. Wet, wet, wet !
They have a changing room, first aid station, gifts shop, surf shack?, all the standard stuff that a theme park should have lah. The compulsory theme park regulation of no outside food allowed is not strictly imposed here. Dont quote me if you experience the opposite when you visit this place.
The slides are okay, (yeap, I tried them all) but a bit old. My favourite is the Boomerang slide. I was hesitant at first to try it since I am truly afraid of heights and this damn thing is really high and steep. I mean almost 90 degrees steep. Luckily I have to take my glasses off (ie; standard regulations, again) and being blur somewhat helped me got through it. No photolah, I was busy focussing on yelling my lungs out.
Six people only at one time on this baby. But its cool.
There are other rides like the Monsoon Wave, Body Slides, Tube Rides and Kids Adventure River. I particularly like the Adults Lazy River (why does it sounds like a porn movie title?), which with a tube you can enjoy some peaceful moments ………….slowly ………..floating……… with …………the………..river……….. flow.

These stalls are located on the way to the water park. Buy coupons first, then give it to the stalls to order food or beverages. Very inconvenient. Food came in small portions compared with the prices. Bland and tasteless too. Nescafe tarik cost RM 1.50 for a small foam cup. I would not reccommend eating here at all. Overpriced and a real tourist trap.

This is another reason why I dont reccommend eating here. These fly traps were placed in front of the stalls in full view of the eating customers. Really potong giler. With the trumpeted 400,000 visitors last year, I am sure MK Land could at least install the zapping fly traps?
Fly traps aside, I had an enjoyable time in Bukit Merah Waterpark even with the aging rides and slides. I noticed that there were not many visitors there during my visit. Perhaps its high time MK Land should consider a total makeover to replace those old attractions to ensure a steady and continuing stream of visitors.
It will be sad if Bukit Merah suffers the same fate as the Batu Gajah’s Taman Tasik SM Noor.
