OF MERCEDES, PERDANA AND A WEAK PM
July 27th, 2008 | by akula |I will not comment on the Mercedes cars purchased made by the Terengganu State Government.
I would rather focus on the decision made by the PM which is to retain the cars to be used to ferry VIPs. High financial loss was cited as the main reason for the said decision.
I am honestly dissapointed. If according to the government circular that it is wrong to buy the Mercedes in the first place, why allow it to be used (doesnt matter by whom)?

Rather, those who are involved in this wrongdoings should be punished. Period. There’s no two ways about it. If the Terengganu State Government have to dispose the Mercedes fleet, the officers in charge and the MB should be made to pay for the financial loss of having to sell them at cheaper price. And if there is hanky panky going on with the maintenance costs, investigation should have been initiated and those involved be severely reprimanded.

Buying new cars would not solve the problem at all since there is the suggestion of corrupt practices involved. What will guarantee that the maintenance of those new Mercedes will not be as high, if not more than the Perdana?
The PM and the Cabinet should have been more responsible and decisive. This is the kind of decisions that will encourage corruptions simply because the wrongdoers can get away with it. And we wonder why Malaysia was placed at no 43 in last year’s Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index.
I guess maybe the PM should unveil a new slogan.
`I support MAL(aysia) practice: You can actually get away with it.’
In connection with this issue, the Pahang MB sarcastically remarked that maybe the people would like that to see MB’s and Exco’s drive around in Kancil. I was not surprised at all since it came from a person who decided that its justified to spent a huge chunk of people’s money to buy fancy car registration number.
And yes, I really would like to see him be driven in a Kancil.

I think the blindness, and ergo the present rot, in Umno is absolutely encapsulated in the Pahang MB’s question.
Write your piece .......“Would the people like their MB’s and Exco’s to drive around in Kancils?”
Would they indeed!
Shall we have a referendum on this?
I am sure he has not the slightest idea of the feeling of nausea that the average voter feels when he or she hears or reads such a statement.
May I ask how your performance is related in any way to which brand of automobile you get around in?
If the bulk of the people who voted you in are driving kancils or their equivalent and it is good enough for them, Yang Berhormat Menteri Besar, it should be good enough for you.
medico: My thoughts exactly.
Write your piece .......The Trengganu MB is trying his luck actually. I’m sure the state secretary know about the “Treasury Circular” and other govt circular on the usage/privillege of what car can be used by the state exco, top civilian and etc.
Yes, our PM is sleeping again. As a taxpayer, I for one support the govt to surcharge the person who is responsible to order/purchase the Mercedes Benz and that person is not worthy to be an MB or whatever top position in his state. Pls be reminded that Trengganu is one of the top state which is in poverty…Inikah yg dinamakan contoh melalui tauladan….org perak kata “bior pape asal bergaye”…
Write your piece .......Demerezo: And yet, the PM said, boleh pakai sekali sekala. Hopeless ler kita semua, kalau macam tu.
Write your piece .......Maybe beli Myvi la okay skit dr Kancil…hehehe…incidently what is wrong with using small cars to ferry VIPs anyway? bukan kita ke yang bayar their petrol???!!
Write your piece .......CG: Memang pun kita yang bayar actuallynya. Anyway, elok jalan kaki je la diorang tu semua.
Write your piece .......actually, i would love to see our elected reps take public transport for once.. no outriders, no escorts.. just queue up like us poor schmucks and see how you like them apples!!
Write your piece .......Desparil: Saya sokong 120%. Baru tau. Tapi nanti naik public transport pun nakkan tambang free jugak le tu.
Write your piece .......E200 Kompressor is definitely not suitable for heavy duty job. The engine is only 1800 c.c. and it depends on the Mercedes Kompressor technology (equivalent to immmediate-charged turbo for immediate push). I have one for my office use and I am changing it for a E280 to cope with the job. The repair bill for that E200 Kompressor is so big and it is not worth the investment.
It is good and elegant for private, but not for office use.
Whatever reasons given by Terengganu MB, it is very clear that he has made a mistake. The memory of Crystal Mosque and Monsoon Cup is still very fresh in our memory. The new MB is no different from the previous one.
Write your piece .......E43st: Maybe thats their idea after all, to treat and use it as a private car instead of official one.
